About This Project

Union Coop was preparing to make all their services ‘smart’ and seamlessly connected with the IT infrastructure and wanted a more “forward-thinking” approach to shopping.

Execution

The idea was derived from the notion that all grocery shopping lists were created at home.

So how did we connect the shopping list to the in-store experience?

We built a mobile application integrated with the store inventory, so that let’s say, one is to run out of milk they would scan the item, and it would add this exact item to their ‘shopping list’ on the application.

The innovation wasn’t only in the application; it was in the integration of the ibeacons that were strategically placed throughout the store. These ibeacons worked as an indoor GPS so that when you entered the store, you would be detected and a “golden route” would be created for you to pick up all the items on your list.
Shoppers also received push notifications of the latest promotions as they past items throughout the store. It was a win-win solution for both retailers and consumers.
